Improvement Champions

The role of Improvement Champion has been developed in Kent initially through the Schools Partnership Programme work of Education Development Trust (EEF Evaluation 2018-2021) and subsequently through the Kent Inclusion Leadership Programme led by LLSE, EDT and nasen (2021-2024).

From September 2023 the new Kent Education Evidence Hub is co-ordinating training and support for Improvement Champions in the county to support schools in building capacity for evidence informed improvement within their teams.

The Improvement Champion Role

The role of an Improvement Champion is to facilitate discussion between teams of staff within a school in which they review the outcomes of enquiry and begin to shape a plan of action to develop practice.

The Improvement Champion ensures that the discussion is evidence-informed, participative, and focused on future action.
